MokoTube, the Māori language mobile app for tamariki and whānau is available now on Google Play.

MokoTube is a free, Māori language mobile app, designed for ages 3-5. The app has been designed to work similarly to ‘YouTube for Kids’, by centralising Māori language content available on YouTube.

If you use an Android device, go to Google Play Store and download the app.

If you have an ios device, add the thumbnail to your homescreen via safari – And look out for MokoTube in the App Store before the end of January.

For whānau who choose kōhanga or bilingual ECE, MokoTube is all about developing outstanding comprehension, in te reo.  For tamariki who haven’t had the benefit of an immersive ECE experience, its about developing the means to communicate in te reo Māori.  Either way, MokoTube will be an ideal language support at home, in kōhanga or preschool and on the go.

Ngā mihi from OUR grateful team

A huge mihi to Te Mātāwai for making MokoTube possible. We are eternally grateful.

To YouTube content creators including Atareta & Te Haakura of Te NūTube, Pipi Mā and Tamariki Tākaro, ngā mihi tino nui! Your extensive media forms the backbone of this app, and we appreciate you allowing us to gather it all together in MokoTube.

To all the other creators who are embedded in MokoTube (from YouTube), ngā mihi nui hoki. This app is only possible with support from you all.

Moving forward, MokoTube needs more content to draw on. So we would love to hear from you if you have YouTube media that you think we should add to the app.

we wish you a māori christmas…

We hope you enjoy the MokoTube, Māori language mobile app for tamariki, as much as we enjoyed making it.

We made it in time for Christmas and to help kick off the new decade. A decade that will hopefully see the development of a lot more Māori language digital media.

All the best to all for 2020 and beyond.

Nā, Corban, Peter, Maraea and the team at Hei Tiki Creatives
